Develop renewable projects in India and support carbon footprint reduction
GAIL (India) and AM Green BV (AMG) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore projects to advance sustainable energy solutions in India. The partnership focuses on long-term supply of carbon dioxide (CO2) for eMethanol production and exploring hybrid renewable energy projects across India.
As per the MoU, both parties plan to undertake studies for long-term supply of around 350 KTA of CO2 generated by GAIL in its gas processing plants to produce eMethanol, an eco-friendly fuel environment that can reduce carbon emissions and promote a circular economy. GAIL will also have an equity option to invest in the proposed eMethanol project, thereby ensuring a strategic partnership that supports both companies’ objectives in promoting sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, both parties plan to jointly explore setting up solar/wind hybrid renewable projects of up to 2.5 GW across India. Hybrid solar/wind projects combined with Greenko’s upcoming pumped storage projects are poised to provide 24-hour energy to end users, including the proposed eMethanol project.
