(Reuters) – Melania Trump writes in her upcoming memoir that a woman has the right to an abortion, The Guardian newspaper reported on Wednesday, while her husband, Donald Trump, supports the right of US states to restrict the procedure.
“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body?” Melania Trump writes in her memoir, which will be released four weeks before the November 5 election, that pits her husband against Democrat Kamala Harris.
Donald Trump, a Republican, supports exceptions for rape, incest and to protect the life of the mother.
The Guardian said it had obtained a copy of the book.
A spokesperson for Melania Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
